Homemade Peanut Butter (Oil free, Vegan)

Tomorrow I am doing a plant based cooking workshop as part of the “Be Your Own Doctor” event happening at The Sharjah Scout Mission. “Be Your Own Doctor” was founded by my dear friend Jerold Abraham to help people in our community reverse many lifestyle diseases such as Diabetes and Hypertension. Many people have benefited from his programme and I am so excited to be a part of tomorrow’s Big event. We have been getting many requests for recipes to be included in the workshop and one of them was “How to prepare Peanut Butter without Oil?” I thought of doing a blog post on the same to show how simple it is to prepare Peanut Butter at home. You will never enjoy the store bought one after you have tasted this awesome Peanut Butter, I promise. Not to forget about the nasty ingredients that usually show up on the ingredients list of the store bought version..Here it is..Vegan, Oil free, 2 – ingredient Peanut Butter..

Ingredients:

Roasted Peanuts
Salt (optional) – as needed

Method:

I bought roasted peanuts (without oil) from store and I could skip the step of roasting the peanuts. If you are buying plain peanuts, spread them on a pan in a single layer and roast them in a preheated oven at 350F for about 20 minutes. You can stir in between after the first 10 minutes. You can remove the skin (I like to keep the skin on) after the peanuts have cooled down. If you are roasting in a Tawa / wide pan, you can spread the peanuts in single layer (this is important) and dry roast until the peanuts are done.

Once the peanuts are roasted and cooled, put them in a high speed mixer jar (or food processor) and pulse a few times until they form a coarse powder. Blend thoroughly after that by increasing the speed of the mixer step by step. Scrape down the sides of the mixer as necessary and keep blending until you get the desired consistency. You can add salt if you would like to. It enhances the flavour really well. You can make it chunky or smooth according to your preference. Enjoy with your morning toast or having it just like that!! This is how easy to prepare the yummy Peanut Butter. Here is the the most exciting part – the whole blending process took less than 10 minutes!!

Please try the recipe and share your comments here. I can’t wait to see your pictures..
